This is an extremely smooth stout.

Pours with a nice caramel colour head, quite dense but not so much as some other imperials. The aroma is easily coffee inspired, but not over the top.

What makes this beer special is that it is brewed with Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee, or Kopi Luwak as it is known from Indonesia. What is that? It is coffee beans that have been ingested, and expelled, by the Asian Palm Civet, creating a flavour unlike any other coffee out there.

Gimmicky or not, the end result is fantastic. Super smooth and a great balance of dry roasted flavour and coffee.

There is even a slight smoky essence to the finish of this beer, which stands out for it’s overall smoothness. If you can find it, try it.
