Fantôme de Noël

Fantôme de Noël from Brasserie Fantôme in Soy-Erezée, Belgium

Fantome Noel

Fantome Noel, a complex ale from Belgium, perfect for winter.

A dark brown pour with a slight reddish hue.

This beer pours a bit syrupy, with an aroma that is big on fruit. Mostly sour cherries, but some tanned leather and a bit of earthiness to it as well. Good complexity.

Taste is varied, a definite bite of alcohol, despite being aged for a year. There is a twist of cherries, berries and fruits to taste with this one. It finished with a slight red wine tannin element.

Great beer, not as spiced or uniquely tasting as expected, but I’ll seek out more Fantome brews in the future.
